How To Find Niche Keywords for Free?

While interacting with my students, one out of all 5 students hasasked me for help in determining if their topic was particularly agood, or (better call it) a profitable one?

Given that eachday the blogosphere is swarmed with thousands of bloggers, it’squite natural for this question to crop up over and over again. Weall, whether new to blogging or whether age-old in it, face thechallenge of choosing the right niche. The right selection is thefirst big hurdle, and only your market can filter the topic for you.I can at best offer my suggestions and tips for conducting researchto aide with topic selection.

Which one is “The RightTopic”?

Niche selection is pretty similar toselecting a business venture. It depends on what you write and howwell you can attract the prospective buyers and make money from them.Content, as we all know, is the major driving force behind tappingtraffic and converting it into future-paying members. So, TopicSelection Is A Major Deal.

Lemme offer you a simple anda workable solution for your Niche selection. It’s simple because mdeliberately filtering out all the complexities like in-depth keywordresearch, market analysis, profit concerns etc which weigh heavy onyour decisions. (Though I do not say, this isn’t important!).

More knowledge leads to a paralytic situation. Youget so engrossed in research that main focus – choosing the niche-gets lost somewhere, and the Real Action Gets Delayed. So my advicecomes more importantly for the newbies and strugglers who assume theyknow everything about everything; yet do not succeed.

So follow these simple handy guidelines to choose a niche beforeactually choosing it! ‘M not saying just close ears to allknowledge, but just asking you to be a lil easy & practical withyourself, before you muddle your head in each & every possibleway and end up having nothing in your hands. Ask Yourself: Am I interested in thisTopic?

Before delving into any of the writing arenas, Ifirst ask myself: “Am I willing to write on this topic?” It mightsound a lil weird, but that’s it. After all you are the one who hasto express your views. So you surely need to be interested in yourtopic. How can you sound interesting in something that youyourself find to be boring?

So if you wanna grow popular and own a reputed blog, take time to reflect on thisquestion “Would I enjoy writing on this topic even 1 year fromnow?” coz you need to build a loyal readership (and my personalexperience says, you would need this much time!). So if your answeris NO, find another topic.

Assess the popularity of yourTopic

While it’s important that you are passionate aboutyour topic, it’s equally significant that even your readers areinterested in your chosen topic. Law of Supply & Demand holdsgood even here. Unless your readers are interested to read yourtopic, it would be like heading in waters with cotton sacks overhead.

Not necessarily that you blog about something all aresearching about; even with some readers it can be a grandsuccess. As people actually searching for your chosen topic are yourprospective buyers – your income-generating funnels.

Identifya Growing Topic

Change is the law of nature. Get yourhands on a topic that is growing and on the roads to get popular. Askyourself “what would people be searching in 6 month’s time?”and offer that to your audience. Look out in magazines, TV,newspapers, Community Forums, and all such places too hunt for moreideas.

Will You Have enough Content?

Now youneed to have an access to un-limited number of useful resources topick your content from (and I do not mean exact copying! I mean forreference purpose only).

Is your Topic a Profitableone?

If you plan to generate income from your blog, you will also need to investigate whether your chosen topic has anypotential income streams. Not every topic would be a profitablesource of income. Say for example, AdSense works pretty well forcertain topics, but fails for others. So you need to demarcate aprofitable topic from an un-profitable one.

I do agreethat it’s impossible to find a topic, profitable on all the fronts. While it’s a great idea to pen down your thoughts on something ofyour and your reader’s interest; it is equally cardinal to checkthe profitability factor of these topics. Be aware and that’s allyou need to do.
